rippling wishes

creative brief
Design an interactive wishing well experience inspired by the theme “Reflections.”

the artwork
The final installation reimagined a traditional wishing well as an immersive reflective pond experience designed to encourage pause, interaction, and quiet moments of intention.

The piece featured a large-scale illuminated pond constructed with reflective mylar to mimic the movement and shimmer of water. Hidden fans beneath the raised structure created subtle motion throughout the surface, bringing the installation to life with the organic movement of a real pond. Handmade lily pads floated across the reflective landscape while integrated LED lighting beneath the pond and rock perimeter cast a soft ambient glow throughout the experience.

Natural moss and realistic butterflies were layered throughout the environment to enhance the feeling of stepping into a dreamlike garden setting. Adjacent to the pond, a sculptural pillar held delicate flower petals that guests could take as part of the interaction. Visitors were invited to make a wish before releasing their petal into the illuminated pond, transforming the installation into both a visual centerpiece and participatory experience.

fun project fact

After the installation’s first debut, we collected more than 375+ rose petal “wishes” dropped into the pond — each one a small moment of hope, reflection, and intention. Here’s to hoping they all come true.
